As we step into a new chapter at Revere Paints, we take a moment to celebrate an extraordinary legacy. After nearly 50 years in the paint industry, our dear friend and longtime colleague, Robert Chapman, is retiring.

For over three decades, he has been an integral part of Village Paint - now Revere Paints- and the Fayetteville and Peachtree City communities, offering his expertise, warmth, and extraordinary knowledge to anyone and everyone who has walked through our doors. His enthusiasm for Benjamin Moore products and dedication to helping professional painters, interior designers, and homeowners has left an indelible mark on our store’s history and this community.

Before joining Village Paint, Robert spent 14 years as a professional painter, mastering his craft and learning the ins and outs of every surface, brush, and finish. That hands-on experience made him not just a paint expert but a trusted advisor to homeowners and professionals alike. For over 30 years in this store, his friendly face, wise counsel, and unmatched knowledge have helped countless customers turn their houses into homes.

As we bid him a fond farewell from his formal work in the paint business, we wanted to share some of Robert’s top painting tips — the kind of wisdom that only comes from decades of real-world experience:

  1. Know Your Surface: The type of surface you’re painting determines not just the kind of paint you need but also the scope of the prep work required. A little preparation goes a long way in achieving a flawless finish.

  2. Check the Previous Paint: Wondering if your existing paint is oil-based or latex? A simple alcohol test can help — or better yet, bring a sample into the store, and we’ll help you figure it out.

  3. Clean and Prep for Each Specific Surface: Different rooms require different prep. Kitchens, for example, need grease removed from walls before painting. Proper cleaning and scuffing ensure better adhesion and a longer-lasting result.

  4. Determine Primer vs. No Primer Needs: Not every job requires a primer, but when it does, choosing the right one can make all the difference in coverage, adhesion, durability, and finish.

  5. Choose the Right Paint for Finish and Durability: The right type of paint not only enhances the beauty of your space but also stands up to daily wear and tear. Let your needs guide your choice.

Bonus Tip: Don’t trust smart screens and digital color samples. Colors can look wildly different on a screen than they will on your walls. Come into the store for a real paint chip and see it in your space, under your lighting, before making a decision.

Robert and his wife, Teresa, are planning on traveling this beautiful country and visiting our National Parks. In their honor, we’ve listed some Benjamin Moore paint colors inspired by the National Parks Service.

  1. Yosemite Yellow 215: An earthy shade reminiscent of the many yellow wildflowers that dot Yosemite National Park.

  2. Pike's Peak Gray 2127-50: This color draws inspiration from the majestic Pike's Peak, capturing the essence of its rocky slopes.

  3. Cascade White 2127-70: Evoking the serene beauty of the Cascade Mountains, this hue reflects the purity of mountain snow.

  4. Glacier White OC-37: A crisp, cool white inspired by the snow-capped peaks of Glacier National Park.

  5. Sequoia 1246: A rich, reddish-brown that mirrors the towering sequoia trees found in California’s national parks.

  6. Everglades 641: A deep, moody green evocative of the dense, tropical wetlands of Everglades National Park.

We are so grateful for his many years of service, his passion for helping others, and the countless ways he has enriched our store and community. While we’ll miss seeing him behind the counter, his legacy lives on in the beautiful homes and happy customers he’s helped along the way.

Thank you for everything — your wisdom, your kindness, and your dedication, Robert. Enjoy this well-deserved retirement; you’ve certainly earned it! Come by and see us soon.

-Jeff and Team, and the entire Village Paint & Revere Paints community.
